In this section you will be able to choose from a huge selection of dollhouses, in kits or finished form, roomboxes in varying sizes and configurations and several different styles of shops. They are manufactured primarily by Real Good Toys, a company in Vermont that has been producing quality dollhouses for over 30 years. Real Good Toys has a great reputation for high quality, easy to assemble and customize dollhouse kits.
Roomboxes are really great if you have limited space for display. Some models come with hardware to hang them on a wall, or they will fit on a shelf. Basically, a room box is designed in a specific theme. Some examples are: sewing rooms, music rooms, libraries, toy rooms, etc. Some boxes are done like store fronts, showing only the entrance and display windows; other themes could represent a holiday. The only limitation is your imagination. Some of the boxes include plexiglas fronts that protect the contents from dust, pets, or whatever. They can be finished with an ornate frame around the front like a lighted, three-dimensional picture. Your choices are virtually unlimited. So, if a roombox is just your size, there are quite a few to choose from.
Dollhouse kits include everything you need to finish the house as shown. If there are exceptions to this, it will be clearly noted. None of these dollhouses are recommended for children under the age of 3. A list of recommended tools, supplies, components and options are provided in the description. We offer a wide variety of dollhouses, but you can easily customize to suit your own style by adding a different porch, shutters, gables, etc. There are so many choices you may have difficulty making up your mind! Start with the style you want - Colonial, Federal, Victorian, etc. Size is the next factor you should consider. The dimensions are listed in the description of each model. Wall finish is another consideration - they come in several types:
-
Milled - The 3/8" clapboard profile is milled into the surface of the exterior walls. This is a real time and money saver since all that is needed to finish the exterior is paint or stain. Milled kits come in two versions:
-
The only difference between a MP or MM finish is the material of the exterior walls. The interior walls are made of plywood.
-
SP - Smooth Plywood - The exterior walls are smooth (no siding or textured profile). SP kits do not include clapboard siding, edge trim, shingles or shutters.
-
Scored - the exterior walls have a 3/4" spaced, novelty siding profile milled into the exterior walls; it is ready to paint.
-
Stucco - the exterior walls are smooth. The kits include a formulated stucco mix that you combine with your choice of paint and it creates a textured exterior finish.
-
Brick - "B" - The exterior walls are pre-finished with painted wooden brick attached.
-
Log - Log siding and trim for these kits are supplied in lengths that require cutting to finish as shown
