Furniture

At this stage your miniature house, roombox, vignette, etc. is finished and just needs to be furnished, right?   This is a really fun part of the project, but once again, planning can save you time, money and disappointment.  There is a tendency to put too much furniture in a room, and then it is hard to achieve a realistic look.   One way to avoid this mistake is to draw a diagram of each room (one room per page) on graph paper so it will be to scale (1" = 1').  Most furnishings will give you the size (L x W) and, on another sheet of graph paper, draw an outline of each piece you plan to use.   Cut them out, place them on the room diagram and it will give you an overview of what will (or will not) work in this space.  The idea is to think like a decorator - remember that form follows function.  Yes, I know its just a miniature and no one actually lives there, but it should LOOK as if someone does. At least you should be able to imagine it.
